Albanian Language School in Alaska is closing

Vamos Language School is closing its doors in Alaska.

The school closed for two months last year.

The last day of classes will be Wednesday.

The staff is going to be replaced.

Vamos is located at 830 E. 4th St. in Anchorage.

The school, which offers classes in Albanian, Russian, and Turkish, had been the focus of a federal investigation in 2015 for failing to properly train teachers and to adequately supervise staff.

The Education Department is reviewing whether the school has violated the federal Children’s Education Act or other federal laws.

The Alaska Education Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
